About Tom

I have been photographing regularly since about 1972. I work with several motifs, favoring historical, industrial and modern architecture, landscapes of the West and, sometimes, graphic abstractions. I often look for scenes with connotations of long lasting durability contrasted with striving, youthfulness, fragility and impermanence.

In my recent work, I have been combining panoramic and "high dynamic range" techniques. I like the expanded sense of space and especially color that these methods add to my photographs.

Most of my images are assembled from multiple exposures, printed with Epson Ultrachrome inks and mounted with archival materials. Prints can be made to order in other sizes if desired.

My work can be viewed in-person at the Viewpoint Photographic Art Gallery in Sacramento, California. Join my mailing list for notification of exhibitions of my work or email me at panowest@surewest.net if you are interested in a print.
